NEMA’s Electroindex Business Conditions Index (EBCI) for current conditions rose nearly nine points in January, to 57.1. A reading of “50” is the dividing line between expansion and contraction.

Also flying high: The EBCI for future North American conditions (i.e., six months from now). It rose 14.3 points to 78.6—highest level since December 2004. NEMA noted that this was the 11th straight reading above the “50” mark for the future conditions index.
