Springfield Electric’s Mark Barthel Announces Retirement

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Springfield Electric announced that Mark Barthel will retire at the end of the year after a 39-year career run in the electrical industry.

Barthel most recently held the position of vice president of sales and marketing, following the acquisition of Springfield Electric by Sonepar. In the seven years prior to that, he served as president of Springfield Electric. The majority of Barthel’s career was dedicated to the manufacturing side of the industry, building his industry expertise at companies like Thomas & Betts, Acme Transformer, and Legrand. In addition to his functional responsibilities, Barthel spent many years serving on industry and philanthropic councils and boards.

“The Springfield Electric team and the industry will miss Mark’s know-how, leadership and friendship that touched so many over the years. Over his 15-year tenure, he helped Springfield grow into the company it is today. We wish Mark all the best in retirement,” said Chris Scarbrough, President of Springfield Electric.

Barthel worked with NAED throughout his career, including as a panel moderator at NAED’s National Meeting in 2018.
