Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton has announced that the Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear in its Power Xpert UX range has successfully completed General Design Appraisal (GDA), following rigorous third-party testing by Lloyd’s Register. The appraisal means that the versatility, reliability and safety standards offered by this range of switchgear are now verified to reliably meet the needs of marine and offshore applications.
“The marine and offshore sectors are very important to us, and we’re delighted we now have approvals that will allow our customers in these sectors to enjoy the benefits offered by one of our most popular ranges of MV switchgear”, said Mostapha Azzahimi, Product Manager for Medium Voltage Systems. “With its compact design and high reliability, we believe that Power Xpert UX is the ideal choice for these sectors.”
Featuring robust construction with a minimum number of moving parts, Power Xpert UX MV switchgear has a design life of at least 30 years. It uses vacuum switching elements that combine maintenance-free operation with minimal environmental impact (SF6 free), and cast resin insulation that provides enhanced operator safety, even in challenging operating conditions.
In order to meet the requirements of Lloyd’s Register, marine versions have undergone extensive additional testing including damp heat, dry heat, cold, inclination, and vibration tests. Eaton’s new UX range of compact air insulated withdrawable MV switchgear leads the industry in safety, reliability, performance and sustainability.
