NECA CEO Grau Announces 2019 Retirement

NECA CEO John Grau announced his future retirement date during the NECA Executive Committee meeting held last week in Laguna Beach, California. Grau informed the Committee that he will retire at the end of his current employment contract in June 2019. He noted that at the time of retirement he will have served 33 years as NECA’s chief staff officer and 44 years with the organization overall. He pledged his cooperation in creating a smooth staff leadership transition while continuing to guide the association in the months ahead.

On behalf of NECA Executive Committees both past and present, NECA President David Long thanked Grau for his years of leadership and service. Long announced that he is appointing a CEO Search Committee which will manage the process of selecting a successor for Grau. Long noted that it will be an open process and that the final selection of a new CEO will be approved by the full NECA Executive Committee, which has that responsibility under the association’s bylaws. He said the goal of the selection process will be to have a new CEO hired in early 2019 to provide time to transition with Grau prior to his retirement date.
