The National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO) publishes a yearly list of America’s 100 largest companies (by employee count) that are majority employee-owned.
It includes companies that are at least 50% owned by an ESOP or other qualified plan, or by one or more other kinds of plans in which at least 50% of full-time employees are eligible to participate. Employment includes all full- and part-time employees in the U.S. and worldwide.
Data is collected from direct correspondence with companies, corporate websites, or, if these are not available, the most recent public data available.
In 2019, the top 100 employee-owned companies employ more than 610,000 people.
Graybar, Border States Electric (BSE), Rosendin Electric, and S&C Electric made this year’s list.
