BELL GARDENS, Calif. – In May, Orbit Industries donated thousands of KN95 face masks to COVID-19-related healthcare and public service efforts in the City of Los Angeles.
Orbit President and Founder David Nikayin and Factory Salesperson Neda Nikayin presented several cartons of masks to the Bell Gardens Police Department and Station 39 of the Los Angeles Fire Department. More face masks were then donated to healthcare workers at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Orbit also donated masks to the City of Bell Gardens Building and Safety Department.
“We are part of this community and as such Orbit Industries wanted to support the true heroes of this fight,” explains David Nikayin. “Police, firefighters and medical personnel need all the protection and support we can give them. It takes a community effort.”
According to a Los Angeles Times article (“There are no masks left in L.A. County’s emergency stockpile”), as of April, the national stockpile had only 1% of the masks needed to respond to the pandemic. Months later, the shortage of respirators and other personal protective equipment continues to hamper local, state, and national efforts to fight the COVID-19 epidemic.
Nikayin says his company recently purchase several thousand more KN95 masks, which he plans to distribute throughout the community. Orbit plans to continue donating face masks until the county-wide shortage reaches safe and manageable levels.
