FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Emerson has opened its 2022 ASCO Engineering Scholarship Program to U.S. college and university students studying in the fields of engineering, instrumentation, systems, and automation. The merit-based program rewards students for academic excellence, service to others, and leadership potential.
“The ASCO Engineering Scholarship Program, now in its fifteenth year, is a cornerstone of Emerson’s continuing global STEM initiative to instill a personal and professional passion for science, technology, and math in the workforce of tomorrow,” said Jenny Lenhard, president, Americas and industrial automation for fluid and motion control at Emerson. “Well supported and inspired, we can achieve a healthier, safer, smarter, and more sustainable world together.”
Founded on innovation, Emerson is strongly committed to building STEM education. The company partnered with more than 350 universities and technical colleges worldwide and donated $8.3 million to developing and training future generations through schools, universities, and related programs in fiscal 2019. It has also hosted over 30 “We Love STEM” events in 12 countries, reaching more than 2,000 students with interactive STEM activities.
Through the ASCO Engineering Scholarship Program, Emerson has awarded more than $168,000 in scholarships and grants to 28 outstanding engineering students and their institutions of higher education.
“Our past scholarship recipients have demonstrated wide-ranging visions. Their majors have ranged from mechanical engineering with a focus on renewable energy and aeronautics to chemical engineering with dual minors in biochemical engineering and business, and more,” said Andy Duffy, vice president of sales for fluid control and pneumatics at Emerson. “They have interned at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory, developed a navigational aid for the visually impaired, constructed a suspension bridge in Nicaragua, and more. The common thread? A driving commitment to building a better future. We are proud to be a part of their stories.”
The 2022 ASCO Engineering Scholarship Program is open to U.S. citizens and legal U.S. residents. Among the requirements, applicants must have completed their sophomore year in a bachelor’s degree program or be enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited U.S. educational institution at the time of application.
