Former Lighting Rep President Sentenced to 63 Months in Prison

Jeffrey Chaney, the former President of Resource Lighting Group, is currently serving 63 months in prison following his guilty plea connected to three robberies at banks and one bakery in a suburb outside of Detroit, Michigan in 2018. When his sentence is completed, Chaney will be on supervised release for three years.

“lightED” reported on Chaney’s arrest back in July of 2018, when a man wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat and a construction style dust mask held up the banks and bakery over a five-day period. On at least one occasion, Chaney displayed a gun, although no shots were ever fired.

Chaney’s attorney told a local newspaper that his client made some bad decisions and accepts his responsibility. He added that Chaney did not want to put the victims through a trial, so he made the guilty plea. A U.S. District judge sentenced Chaney to 63 months for each robbery, but decided the sentences will run concurrently instead of consecutively.  In addition to the 63 months in prison, the court recommended Chaney be involved in a substance abuse program while he is incarcerated, and maintain that program after his release.

Resource Lighting Group’s website says it represents dozens of lighting manufacturers in markets in Michigan and Ohio, including B-K Lighting, Phoenix Lighting, and LSI Industries.
