The numbers are staggering.
- Every day in the United States, 10,000 people turn 65-years-old. That doesn’t necessarily mean 10,000 people are retiring every day. Some have already retired. Some will retire in the future. But every day, 10,000 people become eligible for full retirement benefits. As a result, industry knowledge, years of experiences, and mind-share disappear not just from any workforce, but all workforces, including electrical distribution. That loss needs to be replaced by future generations who are prepared to tackle not just current, but future challenges, opportunities, and strategies.
- Right now, there are millions of open positions throughout the United States. The battle for your next superstar is not just with other companies in electrical distribution. Famous, popular companies currently have thousands of job openings in sales, marketing, operations, and IT.
On the DistributED with tED magazine podcast, regular contributors Desiree Grace and Andrea Olson talk about the competition for the next generations of our workforce, and what it is going to take to keep them growing within your company. The task has changed exponentially over the past decade.
Desiree Grace is the General Manager of Flex Wind, and Andrea Olson is an author and Customer-Centricity Expert. Both are regular contributors to the DistributED with tED magazine podcast.
