Southwire Receives 2024 Corporate Legacy Award

Southwire is proud to announce that it has received the 2024 Corporate Legacy Award from Atlanta University Center Consortium Dual Degree Engineering Program (AUCC DDEP).

The Atlanta University Center Consortium, Inc., located in Atlanta, Ga., is the world’s largest consortia of African American private institutions of higher education. Originally formed in 1929, the Consortium is a nonprofit organization that operates on behalf of its member institutions: Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, Morehouse School of Medicine and Spelman College.

The Dual Degree Engineering Program has excelled for more than 50 years and was created to significantly build the number of minority engineers globally, keep them socially engaged with one another and ensure they are well equipped for scientific, technological, engineering and mathematical careers.

Southwire’s University Relations and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) teams established a partnership with the AUCC DDEP more than three years ago to annually award students with scholarships and summer internship opportunities.

Through rigorous coursework, hands-on experiences and a commitment to excellence, students are encouraged to distinguish themselves as future leaders in the engineering profession.

Southwire was recognized with this award for its strong association with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’s) and specifically its investment in advancing the AUCC’s DDEP.
