WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Association of Manufacturers recently launched a new ad as part of its Building to Win campaign. The campaign makes the case that America needs to build faster—and that means modern infrastructure and a permitting system that moves projects from the drawing board to construction.
The ad comes as federal surface transportation programs expire on Dec. 11 and Congress considers both a long-term, robust highway bill and comprehensive permitting reform.
The stakes for manufacturers in America are significant. NAM analysis finds that highway congestion and port delays impose nearly $40 billion in annual costs, while freight bottlenecks waste more than 65 million hours each year. Permitting delays add another $7.9 billion annually.
