Professional Electric Products Company (PEPCO), an electrical, utility and automation products and service distributor, announced it has purchased certain assets of Edison Equipment Company, LLC, an electrical and utility distributor with locations in Columbus and Monroe, Ohio.
As part of the deal, PEPCO has hired a significant number of Edison Equipment employees and kept jobs in these markets. PEPCO has not announced financial details of the sale, however plans include maintaining the former Edison Equipment locations indefinitely to complement the existing PEPCO location and service efforts.
“The acquisition unquestionably continues our efforts to make PEPCO an extremely viable electrical products and services resource in the state’s largest commercial market,” PEPCO President Joseph Borkey said. “What further attracted us to Edison is that they are committed to providing quality service to their customers that meets or exceeds their expectations—which is part of PEPCO’s core offering.”
The company says this transaction will further benefit Central-Ohio construction, industrial and utility customers with PEPCO’s growing local presence. In 2010, PEPCO acquired certain assets of Johnson Electric Supply Company’s (JESCO) Columbus, Ohio branch at 999 Kinnear Road. The two new PEPCO branches are located at 2225 McKinley Avenue in Columbus, Ohio and 415 Breaden Drive, Suite 11, in Monroe, Ohio.
“PEPCO has the very unique opportunity to provide the greater Columbus marketplace with additional opportunities to be more competitive with an added capability to obtain the electrical products and services they need,” Borkey said. “PEPCO is made stronger with this acquisition, enabling us to better serve local and regional customers, while affording them the opportunity to obtain contracts that previously may have been awarded to out-of-area firms, keeping Ohio’s skilled workers employed.”
