Werner Electric Supply Expands Minnesota Headquarters, Adding Up to 70 Jobs

COTTAGE GROVE, Minn. — Werner Electric announced plans to expand their headquarters and regional distribution center, add local inventory to support emerging markets, and centralize key administrative functions to Cottage Grove. Construction of the 60,000 square-foot addition, inventory enhancements, and employee recruitment efforts are expected to begin in spring 2015.

“Werner has experienced double-digit sales growth year-over-year for some time now,” stated Ben Granley, Werner Electric President. “This investment in people, inventory, and facilities is necessary to continue on this path. We are committed to growing with our customers, exploring new markets, and increasing our investment in Minnesota.”

Werner Electric of Minnesota is jointly owned by two Midwest electrical distributors — Van Meter Inc. of Iowa and Werner Electric of Wisconsin. Both owner companies provide shared services today in areas like purchasing, finance, IT and human resources.

“While our ownership structure will not be changing,” explained Granley. “Managing these functions independently and centralizing them to Minnesota will position us for continued success.”

This strategic plan will drive their growth and continue to serve their customers with the best products and services.
