CHRISTIANSBURG, Vir. — Electrical wholesale distributor City Electric Supply (CES) is excited to announce the opening of its Christiansburg, Virginia, location. In search of the perfect location, the opening of the new CES branch in Montgomery County took two years.
“The location of this branch is phenomenal in a highly visible spot with plenty of space,” said Regional Manager Billy Barham. “We’re very excited about this location. This area is growing rapidly, and the opportunities are here that CES wants to assist in.”
This CES branch is managed by Brian Barbour, a seasoned CES veteran of more than 20 years. Brian started his journey as a driver with the company and has held every position possible inside a branch. While he was the branch manager of Morehead City for close to 10 years, Brian knew that it was time for a new challenge. He recently moved to the area from North Carolina to open this new location.
“I started working for CES in 1997 as a driver right out of college. Jay Lassiter was my district manager, who is still in the Raleigh area today,” said Brian. “This is the first time I have been part of opening up a branch, and it’s been an absolute blast.”
The rest of the team inside the Christiansburg branch have industry experience, and they are eager to help the customer base. Operations Manager Brandon Haffley previously worked for the local college, and Counter Salesman Ryan Holladay previously worked for CES at the Roanoke location.
Montgomery County is concluding a five-year development project that began in 2018. The Montgomery County Department of Economic Development (MCDED) has made more than 20 announcements about new and existing businesses. These announcements have resulted in more than 1,500 new jobs and more than $86 million in investments. Developments across the county throughout the past year include a new affordable housing project, multiple parks, and a transportation system.
“We’ve been looking in this area of Virginia for several years now. Blacksburg and Christiansburg are close together with a lot of business opportunities,” said Senior Regional Manager Kevin Feidler. “CES is excited to finally have this location open and ready to help customers.”
CES Christiansburg VA sits at 10,000 square feet and is the fifth location in the Roanoke Valley district. Customers who work in Montgomery County will now have the Christiansburg branch to grab their material from.
“The CES goal is always going to be to have more locations available for our customers. The more locations we have, the more opportunities we create for not only our customers but for our team members to receive promotions and new job opportunities,” said Kevin.
The location just celebrated its grand opening, with over 100 customers and community members in attendance.
CES Christiansburg VA is excited to serve the community. Make sure you stop by to say hello!
