Mid-Atlantic readers of Forbes magazine’s April 9 edition saw baseball player Matt Kemp on the cover. But those who ventured inside would come across a photo of a woman standing amidst cable reels—an electrical distributor.
That’s Cora Williams of D.C.-based Ideal Electrical Supply. The paid advertisement featuring her was in a supplement, Washington D.C. Women in Business, which was included in more than 270,000 copies of the publication.
Williams received a call from the marketing company, EMI Network that creates these types of supplements and inserts them into Forbes and other magazines.
According to EMI, issues with the supplement featuring Williams and other women business owners appeared in issues of Forbes mailed to readers in D.C., Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
