Houston, TX – Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson, announced an investment of nearly $4 million at a new facility in Houston to support manufacturing, testing and training for industrial power solutions.
Located in Northwest Houston, a prime location along the Sam Houston Parkway, the new facility will allow Emerson to more than double its production capacity. Emerson Network Power’s customers in the region will benefit from the facility’s added capacity and witness testing areas that will help demonstrate the convergence of technology and engineering required to produce the industrial grade uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems manufactured there. These tailor-made systems are designed to provide back-up power in the process industries, including oil, gas, water treatment, and power generation, and in heavy manufacturing. The state-of-the-art Houston location creates custom designed UPSs, inverters, rectifiers, and back up switches, all of which are assembled locally, tested and prepared for shipping to customers throughout the world.
“Houston is the epicentre of oil and gas in the U.S. and will always play a key role in the broader energy sector,” said Scott Barbour, business leader of Emerson Network Power. “We have a strong presence in oil and gas, power generation, transit companies, and other heavy industrial enterprises locally, and with this new space, we have a great deal more engineering and manufacturing capacity, driving opportunities for job growth locally. We are the only true industrial UPS manufacturer in Houston and one of only two in the United States. Our systems are custom designed, robust, and can run for hours to keep industrial processes operating safely and make our customers’ visions possible.”
The new facility has been fully operational since February 2015, and has a team of nearly 100 Emerson personnel.
“We grew our capabilities in this market in 2010 through the Chloride acquisition, and are looking forward to many more years here in cooperation with other Emerson businesses locally to maintain a large presence in the oil and gas sector,” said Ed Monser, president of Emerson. “Houston is the hub for this business in North America, and we have a great opportunity to better serve our customers including engineers, contractors, specifiers and integrators. We are committed to this city and excited to continue our stay in a new location with increased visibility.”
Emerson Network Power has signed an 84-month lease of the facility at 5980 W. Sam Houston Parkway N. In addition to roughly 24,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space, the facility includes just under 10,000 sq. ft. of office space. The new site also includes attractive customer work, demonstration, hands-on training and final factory acceptance testing areas.
