(Washington, DC) — The FAA has announced their intention to award a contract to Schneider Electric of Palatine, IL. The contract will run for 18 months with one six month option. This contract will commence on or about February 15, 2014 and have a ceiling of $9,600,000.
The FAA has a continuing need for standardized Electrical Distribution Equipment (EDE), for renovation of existing Air Traffic Control sites and the construction of new ones. Additionally, the EDE supplier must fully support the FAA–‘s Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) system and provide technical training. These supplies and services were provided by the Schneider Corporation under a previous contract (which expired on September 30, 2013).
Presently, Schneider Electric is the only contractor equipped to provide these supplies and services. This contract will serve as a bridge to satisfy the FAA’s immediate needs until a contractor can be selected for a long term contract based upon a full and open competition. A Request for Information (RFI) for the full and open competition will be released in the first quarter of 2014 and an award is anticipated in early 2015.
