Former CEO of McNaughton-McKay Passes Away

McNaughton-McKay Electric Company announced the passing of former CEO, William H. Bull on June 18 at the age of 95:

 

Bill’s obituary reads:

William H. Bull 95, of Bloomfield Hills, MichiganĀ andĀ Vero Beach, Florida, passed away June 18, 2024, with his family beside him.

He was born June 21, 1928, to Clarence Bull and Grace (nee Jiggens) Bull in Detroit, Michigan. He attended Redford High School and graduated from Michigan State University with a BA in Marketing. Bill worked at Cadillac Motor Car Company and then McNaughton-McKay Electric Company in Detroit and Madison Heights, Michigan for 52 years.

He started his career at McNaughton-McKay Electric Company in the warehouse, then moving to inside sales, general manager, and executive vice president, becoming President and Chief Executive Officer in 1979. When he retired in 2002, he was President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. Under Bill’s leadership, the company grew to be listed in the Forbes top 500 privately held companies.

Bill regularly attended church with his wife and was a big supporter of the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan where his daughter attended school. Bill loved to garden, snowmobile, fish and boat on Lake St. Clair, Lake Erie, and Walloon Lake, and golf, including three hole-in-ones. He was a big Detroit Red Wings fan and coached his sons’ hockey team. He was an avid reader, enjoyed going to the movies, enjoyed theater, music, and playing the piano. Bill loved animals, especially his dogs. Although Bill was well accomplished, he never lost perspective on what really mattered, and always demonstrated great concern, respect, kindness and generosity.

Bill is survived by his wife of 31 years, Denise (Ahern) Bull, his children, Richard (Janna Leigh) Bull, Kathy (Randall) Clarkson, Steven (Jennifer Makelke) Bull, Karen (Andrew) McKemie, and Rachel Bull, three grandchildren Dr. Kelly Clarkson (Dr. Michael Zachar), Ryan (Skyler) Clarkson and Jeffery Bull, and 2 great-grandchildren, Hayden and Zoey Zachar.
