James L. Hoagland, former Graybar President, passed away on Jan. 27, 2017, at the age of 94.
Hoagland made significant contributions during his long career with Graybar. He began in 1946 as a student in Chicago and held many subsequent positions, including salesman, branch manager (Milwaukee), district manager, regional manager, manager, corporate communications, vice president, operations and executive vice president. Hoagland was elected to the Board of Directors in 1972 and served as president and CEO from 1980 through his retirement in 1989, achieving nearly 43 years of service with the company.
