Former NAED Chair Malcolm Watson Dies At 95

Malcolm Watson, former President of Watson Electrical Supply, passed away on August 17. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Casa View Baptist Church in Garland, Texas.

Watson served as NAED in 1978-1979 while working in the electrical distribution industry for 50 years. He volunteered to work with NAED in numerous ways over three decades, including the tED magazine Advisory Committee, the NAED Long Range Planning Committee, President of the Education and Research Foundation (NERF), the NAED Southern Region Vice-President, Chair of the AdVenture Committee, and the NAED Arthur W. Hooper Award winner in 1998. Watson was also the Chair for the committee to celebrate NAED’s 100th anniversary in 2008.

Watson also served on many manufacturers’ distributor advisory committees (Allen Bradley, Bussmann, Crouse Hinds, Sylvania, Killark, Hubbell, Thomas & Betts, and Siemens) and was president of the Dallas Electric Club and the Electric League.

His obituary says, “He was ordained as a Baptist deacon in 1954 and taught men’s Bible study in local churches wherever he lived, including Hillcrest Baptist Church in Waco, Casa View Baptist Church in Dallas, and First Baptist Church of Lindale. Malcolm enthusiastically shared the Gospel with his words, example, and giving. He participated in countless local revivals and mission endeavors, as well as in international mission trips to England, Ecuador, the Philippines, Malta, Ghana, Costa Rica, and Uganda. Malcolm volunteered with Texas Baptist Men Disaster Relief and served as a board member for Dallas Baptist University, International Commission and the Texas Baptist Missions Foundation. He was a committed prayer warrior, strong supporter of missions and found great joy in serving the Lord in every area of his life. His life was a living example of his faith.
