Fortune Magazine’s Best Places To Work list includes three electrical manufacturers who play key roles with the National Association of Electrical Distributors.
Schneider Electric finished 8th on the list of best large manufacturing and production workplaces. Fortune listed Nucor as 12th on the list, and Atkore as 17th on the list. Schneider and Atkore are NAED Corporate Partners.
Schneider finished 7th on the large manufacturing and production list in 2020 and 2021, and 8th on the list in 2019. In this year’s results, 83% of Schneider employees say it is a great place to work, compared to the national average of 57% of employees at a typical U.S. company. Fortune Magazine used a quote from an employee who explained, “We work as a Team and that includes management. We bounce ideas off of each other and it’s a no-judgement zone. I am challenged every day and empowered to make the necessary decisions to help customers. Love what I do and the company I work for!”
Like Schneider, Nucor also had 83% of employees saying it is a great place to work. 92% of employees told Fortune that they are proud to tell people that they work at Nucor. The employee quote in Fortune Magazine says, “Nucor does an exceptional job in making the teammates feel like part of a team. They allow each and every one of us to feel pride in what we do and that makes a huge impact on mental health and well-being. The emphasis placed on safety is another way that Nucor shows they care.”
77% of Atkore’s employees called it a great place to work, with 88% of employees saying they are given a lot of responsibility and 87% saying that when they joined the company they are made to feel welcome. One employee told Fortune, “Atkore allows all employees to be their true selves at work. Their level of support for DEI and E&A (engagement and alignment) is unmatched. They spend a lot of effort with extra communication. In addition, there is a significant amount of internal promotions, training, and career development.”
Fortune’s list of best small manufacturing and production companies included DeFazio Industries, a manufacturer’s rep firm based in Richmond, Virginia, which finished 17th. The company’s territory includes Virginia, Maryland, Washington D.C., North Carolina, and South Carolina. 100% of DeFazio employees reported management keeps them informed about important issues and changes and that management is approachable and easy to talk to.
