Grainger Recognized for Disability Inclusion

CHICAGO — Grainger earned high marks on the 2017 Disability Equality Index (DEI) and the designation of being a “Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion” by the American Association of People with Disabilities and the U.S. Business Leadership Network. The achievement highlights Grainger's commitment to creating a great team member experience and an inclusive workplace where dedicated, talented people can thrive.

The DEI is a national, annual benchmarking tool that offers businesses an opportunity to self-report and receive an objective score on their inclusive environmental, social and governance policies. For 2017, Grainger was one of 110 participating companies representing 21 different sectors of the economy.

“In our business, we serve the needs of a diverse customer base, and we strive to ensure our team reflects and identifies with those customers,” said Grainger Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer, Joseph High. “Inclusion and diversity is integral to Grainger's business success, and we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where all team members feel safe, valued and encouraged to voice their opinions, regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, veteran status, disabilities or backgrounds.”

This year, Grainger will also form a new disabilities-focused Business Resource Group (BRG), open to all team members, including those with disabilities and allies of those with disabilities. The group will be one of Grainger's nine BRGs that provide peer support, career development and mentoring opportunities, in addition to raising awareness through a variety of discussion groups and activities.
