The IALD Board of Directors now has its President’s Selected Director, Cherine Saroufim, IALD, appointed to the position for 2024 and 2025.
Chosen by IALD President Andrea Hartranft, FIALD, Saroufim is an established and applauded lighting designer in Lebanon. With a master’s degree in interior architecture from Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts (ALBA) in Beirut and an MFA in Lighting Design from New York’s Parsons School of Design, she works actively on projects in Lebanon, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, in addition to teaching lighting design at ALBA. She also serves as the Lebanese ambassador for Women in Lighting.
Highly engaged within the IALD, Cherine has presented sessions recently at IALD Enlighten conferences in Berlin and Tokyo and represented the association at numerous other international conferences.
Saroufim’s appointment as the President’s Selected Director of the IALD Board of Directors is a testament to her expertise, achievements, and commitment to lighting design. Her leadership and advocacy for women in the industry and the role of lighting in social inclusion will undoubtedly enhance the IALD’s mission and vision for the future. We congratulate her on this well-deserved recognition and wish her all the best in her new position.
