For the past nineteen years, the Ideal Companies Scholarship Fund, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization in Washington, D.C., has been helping local high school students achieve their higher academic goals. Through their annual golf outing, funds are raised to provide college scholarships to students. Since inception, the Fund has contributed more than $170,000 in scholarships to deserving youths.
This year’s recipients represent Friendship Edison Collegiate Academy in Ward 8, Anacostia High School in Ward 8, Idea Public Charter School in Ward 7, and Benjamin Banneker High School in Ward 5. Students were carefully selected from a large pool of applicants from D.C. Public and Charter High Schools. Each student went thru an interview process and articulated how important it is to give back to the community.
The community of the Washington Metropolitan area, including several local businesses and organizations, has greatly supported the efforts of the Ideal Companies Scholarship Fund. The annual golf event was held at the Belle Haven Country Club in Alexandria, Virginia.
The golf event followed the scramble format and featured putting, closest-to-the-pin and hole-in-one contests. A silent auction was also featured. The proceeds from all auctioned items also went toward funding the scholarships to the selected students.
Ideal Electrical Supply Corporation is a major sponsor of the Ideal Companies Scholarship Fund and the host of this year’s event. Ideal Electrical Supply Corporation is a privately held women and minority owned and operated company incorporated in Washington, D.C. in 1991.
