Idlewood Electric, an Illinois-based distributor, is now officially recognized as a Nationally Certified Women’s Business Enterprise by the WBENC. This certification will qualify the company to be awarded projects needing minority participation.
“Our goal is to always stand out from our competition by servicing our customers with unique qualifications and continuing to find ways to grow our business opportunities,” says Barbara Lansing, CEO of Idlewood.
According to the WBENC, certification “validates that the business is 51 percent owned, controlled, operated, and managed by a woman or women. To achieve WBENC Certification, women-owned businesses complete a formal documentation and site visit process which is administered by one of WBENC’s 14 Regional Partner Organizations. WBENC Certification gives women-owned businesses the ability to compete for real-time business opportunities provided by WBENC Corporate Members and government agencies.”
Idlewood is also celebrating its 60th year in business. In an announcement, the company stated: Founded in 1958 by Isidore “Iz” Scheinman, the company has continued to thrive and succeed thanks to our dedicated customers, our loyal employees and supportive manufacturers. With our CEO, Barbara Lansing at our helm and a strong management team on board, our lighting showroom and electrical supply division has been elevated to bring the very best to our customers. We are continuously evolving to stay ahead of the curve and maintain our strong footprint in the Chicago market.
Lastly, Idlewood Electric has been nominated as a finalist for Showroom of the Year 2018 by Lighting and Décor Magazine. The distributor was selected as a finalist, along with four other distributors across the nation in the same category ($5M+ in sales). The winner will be announced at the Dallas Lightovation Show on Wednesday, June 20, 2018.
