NEW YORK, N.Y. — The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and the Illumination Engineering Society of South Africa (IESSA) are pleased to announce a memorandum of understanding (MOU) enabling future collaborative efforts in the development and dissemination of educational content for the lighting community. The IES and the IESSA share a mutual commitment to providing lighting education that advances the art, science, and practice of lighting for the benefit of the general public, and through this MOU have the opportunity to further broaden the scope of their respective educational programs.
“With the fast pace of technology transformation in the lighting industry, it is becoming more and more challenging to keep every stakeholder educated and updated in the field of lighting,” explains IESSA President Daniel Kasper. “Through our global collaboration with the IES, we aim to positively impact society and the environment while strengthening each other along the way.”
The IES and IESSA have agreed to establish a mutually beneficial relationship that encourages joint participation in the development of educational programming, relevant content, and research incorporating a progressive, global perspective. The IESSA has been a steadfast supporter of the IES and its Light for Life series, and formalizing the relationship will support both organizations in pursuit of their missions.
“Formalizing relationships with organizations such as the IESSA,” IES Director of Education Brienne Musselman stated, “will support our efforts to educate, advocate, and engage with our global lighting community.”
