SPRING GROVE, Ill. — Intermatic Incorporated announced its participation and donation of energy control products for the upcoming Military Makeover series of Designing Spaces®.
The series, which features the makeover of a mortgage-free home for a military veteran recipient, was filmed in July, in Eustice, FL, the location of the home. This four part episode will begin airing on Friday, October 2nd at 7:00 a.m. ET/PT on the Lifetime Network. Intermatic’s segment will be shown on the October 16th episode with Intermatic’s own Kim Durkot, Product Manager highlighting the products.
The home was donated by Tinky Stuart, 85, a Marine Widow who wanted to show her gratitude for the sacrifice the Travis family made. “I’m of the age where it takes very little for me anymore. So, I thought, ‘Why not donate it to a nice veteran and his family?'” Stuart said.
The proud recipient of the home is Tommy Travis, his wife and two daughters. Travis, who is set to receive the Purple Heart, spent 15 months in Iraq. He watched two friends die, and he suffered a brain injury after a grenade hit his Humvee. “It’s the beginning of the largest chapter of my life. It’s the best part of my life,” Travis said.
“Intermatic’s nearly 125-year history traces employee and product support for the U.S. military back to World War I and beyond,” says CEO Rick Boutilier. “This show raises awareness for ways that businesses can take steps to acknowledge and appreciate our veterans and their families.”
All Intermatic products donated to the show were selected and professionally installed for their consumer friendly ease-of-use and energy efficiency.
