JACKSON, Miss. — Irby, a subsidiary of Sonepar USA, has made a generous donation of materials valued at more than $10,000 for the 2016 Public Power National Lineworkers Rodeo Field located in Shakopee, Minn. The project was completed on October 15, 2015 and the field will host its first event in April 2016. The rodeo is in its 16th year, but this will be the first ever in Minnesota making this a highly anticipated event.
The Public Power National Lineworkers Rodeo will bring together public power lineworkers from all over the United States and some U.S. territories to demonstrate their skill and knowledge in the craft of linework. At the Rodeo, journeyman and apprentice lineworkers can compete for professional recognition, attend training courses and practice essential skills in a safe environment. Furthermore, attendees will have a unique opportunity to connect with and learn from the nationwide community of lineworker professionals.
“As you know, an event of this magnitude doesn’t happen without a significant amount of planning, collaboration and honest-to-goodness hard work of many people,” said Mike Willetts, Director of Training & Safety for Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association. “Irby’s donation is a very visible display of their commitment to public power and we truly appreciate their support! On behalf of our partner, Shakopee Public Utilities, we thank Irby for their donation.”
