Gerald “Jerry” Hagerman, long time industry veteran and NAED Associate Service Award Honoree, passed away on December, 29, 2015 in Danvers, Massachusetts. He had just celebrated his 71st birthday. He was the beloved husband of Mary Jane, with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage in June 2016.
Born in California, Hagerman was raised in Michigan. He was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and earned a Master’s Degree from Michigan State University.
In May of 2008, he was presented an NAED Associate Service Award for his outstanding and dedicated service to the Association and the Electrical Distribution Industry. He also participated on numerous NAED Task Forces (SPA, POS) and conducted a 2011 NERF study, “Maximizing Sales: Techniques & Tools to Boost Selling Productivity.”
During his 33 plus years with Osram Sylvania, he worked in Sales, Sales Operations and Sales Management.
Hagerman overcame many obstacles in his fight with stomach cancer, always proving the doctors wrong. He was always willing to help researchers learn more about the disease in order to help future cancer patients. Included in his “bucket list” was a trip to Venice, Italy in the spring of 2015 with a side trip to visit St. Peregrine’s Basilica in Italy to honor St. Peregrine, the patron Saint of Cancer patients.
Hagerman is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, his three children, Jerilynn Coulter, Jonathan Hagerman and Jennifer Peterson and his seven grandchildren, Kristen Coulter, Angela, Rose, Michael and Darrell Hagerman and Haleigh and Taylor Peterson were the pride and joy of his life and they all adored him. In addition he leaves behind many, many, relatives and friends who loved him and thought he was the greatest. In his last days, many were able to call or visit with him.
