WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Employees of Legrand, North and Central America (LNCA), from multiple locations across the U.S., recently donated their time to take part in the Rebuilding Together 2019 National Rebuilding Day, providing home repairs for those in need.
Participation in the event was organized through Legrand’s Better Communities program, a cross-company initiative that encourages volunteerism across three major focuses: home improvements (better homes), the greening of schools (better schools), and natural disaster prep and response efforts (better recovery). Rebuilding Together has been a partner of the Better Homes program since 2014, and Legrand volunteers focused on initiatives dedicated to building and improving homes for low-income families, disabled individuals, veterans and others.
Rebuilding Together declares National Rebuilding Day as the last Saturday in April each year. On this day, thousands of volunteers join together to provide much-needed and often critical repairs for families in communities across the country.
Legrand employees donated more than 280 volunteer hours working alongside homeowners to repair fences, leaking pipes, replacing sheetrock, installing handrails, fixing and replacing doors, planting gardens, and a variety of other home improvement projects.
“National Rebuilding Day is perfectly aligned to the mission of our Better Communities program,” said Susan Rochford, VP of Energy Efficiency, Sustainability and Public Policy. “We’re very proud of the number of our employees who volunteer their own time to help improve the homes and lives of others.”
“I love getting the chance to meet our neighbors, and help them tackle their home improvement challenges,” said Isela Ramirez-Kim, Legrand’s Rebuilding Together Team Captain in San Jose, “Whenever we work with Rebuilding Together, it really feels like we’ve had a lasting impact.”
Rebuilding Together is a non-profit organization with the goal of preserving affordable homeownership and revitalizing neighborhoods through free home repairs and modifications for neighbors in need. Working with corporate and community partners, they rebuild homes, revitalize communities and rebuild lives. Rebuilding Together affiliates, along with almost 100,000 volunteers, complete nearly 10,000 rebuild projects across the country each year.
