SALT LAKE CITY – ETIM North America (NA) announced that Leviton, a leading provider of electrical wiring devices, lighting controls, network solutions, and electric vehicle supply equipment and automation joined ETIM NA’s data standards association.
Leviton joins other industry-leading manufacturers like ABB, Eaton, Rockwell Automation, Schneider Electric, and Siemens, as well as distributors like Sonepar, who are participating in ETIM NA-led committee activity to build out the classification model according to the needs of the North American electrical market and related verticals.
“We’re excited to have Leviton join our group of industry-leading manufacturers and leverage their extensive product knowledge to help shape the model for improved quality and communication of product data throughout the entire supply chain,” said Mary Shaw, ETIM NA Executive Director. “Building from their engineering expertise and expansive product portfolio, Leviton will help advance the ETIM standard for the benefit of the electrical industry.”
As a Direct Member, Leviton will be able to participate in as many of the ETIM NA Product Expert (PE) Groups as their expertise falls. This includes the current groups for Wiring Devices/Lighting Controls, and the upcoming Wire/Cable group being launched in September where their Networking Solutions expertise will greatly assist in the ongoing, collaborative efforts, side by side with the other members of ETIM North America, as they translate the model to North American terminology.
“Leviton’s extensive product portfolio aligns well with ETIM North America’s current PE Groups, as well as future groups, like the new Wire and Cable group beginning in September, making this an optimal time for us to be involved with the ETIM NA model development,” said Brett Serxner, Leviton’s Director of Distribution Marketing. “We have over a century of experience in our market, from a residential, commercial, and industrial perspective, so we understand what our customers need and how they search for our products. Leviton brings deep customer understanding and product knowledge to the development of data standards.”
According to Shaw, product experts from several ETIM NA member companies have been meeting virtually for over a year now, to advance the Power Distribution and Automation and Drives product categories, as well as the Wiring Devices and Lighting Controls, thanks to many manufacturer members overlapping in these products. As such, Product Expert Groups are now being formed to cover other product areas in the model as membership grows.
