This year’s LIGHTFAIR show at Chicago’s McCormick Place Convention Center May 6-10 is offering more than just the opportunity to walk the trade show floor the final two days of the event.
The education sessions include opportunities directed at the distributor attendees.
On Sunday, May 6, Frank Agraz, Business Development Manager at OSRAM Sylvania, will host a session called “An Emerging Professional’s Guide To Lighting Retrofits”. Agraz will host an “interactive workshop as we explore the turnkey lighting retrofit process. Attendees will interact with their virtual ‘client’ as they pre-qualify the opportunity, assess the facility lighting system, design the proposed solution, and deliver a cost and savings proposal with 3 options.” The event is described as, “Everyone loves saving money, especially building owners. As they search for ways to lower operating costs, energy-efficient lighting continues to provide a strong financial case for spending capital dollars. Even companies who recently upgraded with linear fluorescent are again, now looking to LED to provide more savings and a healthy ROI.” Agraz will help attendees explore different types of LED retrofit solutions, learn about the latest trends in lighting upgrade projects, and evaluate the price of a turnkey retrofit project.
On Wednesday, May 9, Melissa Harrison of Allee Creative will host a marketing eduction session titled, “Building a Smarter Marketing Strategy to Engage and Grow Your Business”. The 90 minute interactive session looks at, “Are you taking the time to work on your business instead of in it? Come for an interactive session of learning, strategies and templates you can take back with you to freshen up your business’ marketing plan and set yourself up for continued growth.” The session will focus on understanding the social media channels that are most effective for you, learning how to organize your content and creating a marketing strategy, understanding how to track your marketing results, and learning how to make your business marketing a priority.
Also on Wednesday, May 9, Gary Meshberg or OSRAM Encelium and Craig DiLouie of Lighting Controls Association (and tED magazine’s lighting writer) will host a 60 minute education session on “Control Options for LED Retrofits”. This session looks at how retrofit projects can be enhanced by a controls network. LIGHT FAIR is promoting this session by saying, “As LED lighting and LED product rebates stimulate a wave of retrofits, building owners have a choice of doing nothing (leave energy cost savings on the table), something (limited retrofit), or everything (new lighting). Whether the owner installs retrofit lamps or new luminaires, lighting controls offer options for maximizing energy savings, extending product life, and providing other value. This session examines LED retrofits from a controls perspective, evaluating controllability of different lighting options, control options for different retrofit approaches, and related issues such as energy codes and rebates.” Meshberg and DiLouie will look at how to apply lighting control strategies to existing buildings, evaluate LED options from a controls perspective, and how to select the correct equipment for individual jobs.
LIGHTFAIR is a providing dozens of other education sessions during the four day event in Chicago. For a complete list of education sessions, you can visit the LIGHTFAIR website by clicking here.
