CLEVELAND, Ohio — Madison Electric Products (MEP) announced the grand opening of a 55,000 square foot distribution center in Duluth, GA that will house more than 2,000 product SKUs. This facility location will significantly enhance operational efficiency nationwide.
“The opening of the new Southeast Distribution Center is yet another example of our ongoing dedication to continuous improvement at Madison Electric Products,” explained President of MEP, Brad Wiandt. “More importantly, this new facility reinforces our unyielding commitment to providing the highest level of service to our customers. While this initiative had a specific focus on our valued customers located in the southeastern quadrant of the U.S., this facility will help provide logistic efficiencies throughout our entire U.S. network.”
This new location allows for next day delivery to most customers, as well as same day service to the local area and standard 1-2 day delivery for most of the southeastern U.S.
“We are glad to be in Atlanta,” explains MEP’s Director of Operations, Kirk Pace. “This new location was strategically chosen to enable us to make service to our customers as simple as possible.” The company anticipates shorter transit and lead times, in addition to higher fill rates and market control.
Committed to service, the new distribution center compliments MEP’s existing facilities in Ohio and California and features superior technology. With a radio frequency technology warehouse management system, MEP can instantly track customer inventory and effectively manage operations. The high-efficiency warehouse is also wire-guided, increasing speed and productivity, reducing accidents and allowing operators to concentrate on superior pick logic.
