West Caldwell, New Jersey — MaxLite® donated $1,500 to Table to Table through the organization’s “Bag a Lunch, Help a Bunch” program. Table to Table is a community-based food rescue program that collects fresh and perishable food, that would otherwise be wasted, and delivers it to nearly 70 recipient agencies that serve the hungry throughout Bergen, Hudson, Passaic and Essex counties in New Jersey. Through MaxLite’s donation, the organization will be able to provide nearly 15,000 meals.
“We are proud to give back to less fortunate New Jersey residents through the Table to Table program,” said MaxLite President and CEO Yon Sung. “For the last four years, the MaxLite family in New Jersey and California set aside one day each October to donate our lunch money to this great cause, and then I match the employee contribution.”
Employees donated the equivalent of one day’s lunch money, or more, for a total of $750, and Sung matched the contribution dollar for dollar. The MaxLite community on each coast held a “Bag a Lunch, Help a Bunch” company barbecue at their respective offices, where employees prepared and cooked food.
“Each year, the success of our Bag a Lunch, Help a Bunch program enables us to feed more and more of the growing number of families in our community who are in need,” said Executive Director at Table to Table Ilene Isaacs. “The continued participation of MaxLite, almost since the inception of the project, has helped spread awareness in Essex County and provided a model for other businesses to participate. As the need for fresh, healthy food continues to grow for our neighbors in Newark and other towns in this county, the importance of our partnership with MaxLite becomes even greater. We are enormously grateful for the level of commitment and the extraordinarily generous support we receive from both the management and employee base of the company.”
