(NECA) — WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Friday, June 17, Bryan Stewart, CEO and President of The Superior Group, was invited to the White House along with Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh, to speak on the “Talent Pipeline Challenge” that would focus on growing the workforce in broadband, construction, and electrification, including electric vehicle charging stations and battery manufacturing. This event will kick off a series of events that will tout workforce training investments, a key piece of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Stewart made this statement following the event:
We need to accelerate the way we attract, train, and develop talent as well as embrace collaboration and partnership. Along with our partners at the IBEW, [we] have the opportunity to forge new pathways to success for American workers and America’s youth. Our opportunities are accessible and meaningful, and they provide long-term career paths. We are committed to attracting more than 100 potential new employees from underserved communities in Central Ohio. The lessons we learn from these efforts will allow us to expand our investments into the other geographic markets where we work. Our electricians and technicians are the heartbeats of our company and the heartbeat of this country. As President Biden commits to building a national network of EV charging stations, we’re making the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program (EVITP) available to our entire qualified workforce. The EVITP is the most comprehensive training program for the installation of EV supply equipment in North America.
NECA applauds Bryan Stewart of The Superior Group’s leadership on the EV charging network and being at the forefront of this new and emerging industry. The Talent Pipeline Challenge will advance The Biden Administration’s goal of building out the first-ever national network of 500,000 electric vehicle chargers along America’s highways and in disadvantaged communities. The National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program will provide $5 billion in formula funding to states to build out charging infrastructure along highway corridors and spur millions in additional investment. NECA will continue to work with electrical contractors, Congress, and the Biden Administration to electrify the country.
