NorthEast Electrical Announces Project Green Lights 2017 Winner

BROCKTON, Mass. — NorthEast Electrical Distributors, A Sonepar Company, is proud to announce that the Mary L. Fonseca Elementary School, located in Fall River, Mass., has been selected as the grand prize-winning school in the NorthEast Electrical Distributors “Project Green Lights 2017” essay submission contest. As the winner, the Fonseca school will receive up to $50,000 in Sylvania Energy Efficiency Lighting products courtesy of NorthEast Electrical Distributors.

NorthEast Electrical Distributors and Sylvania will conduct a Lighting Energy Audit that will recommend an appropriate energy savings solution, including lamps and ballasts. Following completion of the audit, the school will be provided with an energy efficient lighting system which will achieve the maximum energy savings impact, up to a $50,000 value, including equipment and installation costs. The lighting system will be provided by NorthEast Electrical Distributors and Sylvania.

According to the winning essay, submitted by Elizabeth Dunn, Assistant Principal, the Mary L. Fonseca Elementary School is beginning a rollout of a Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) Center for their students. At the STEAM Center, students will be exposed to project-based learning and will practice applying their new skills to help in their understanding of real-world problems. Fonseca students will be introduced to the role of science and engineering in helping to make energy efficient products and spaces. In addition, the revenue generated from the savings due to the installation of the Project Green Lights package will help fund additional STEAM programming.
