SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Orbit Industries, Inc. announced that Cory McElyea has joined the manufacturer as Outside Salesperson for California’s South San Francisco Bay Area. Prior to Orbit, McElyea was a member of the Professional Golfers Association (PGA), and competed in several tournaments including the 2013 U.S. Open Golf Championship.
In his new role, McElyea will focus on educating and selling Orbit Industries’ product line to electrical contractors through Orbit distributors. He will also support the region with training, marketing, and promotional programs.
McElyea will be responsible for driving Orbit Industries’ sales strategies in key cities south of the San Francisco Bay, including Daly City, Paolo Alto, and Mountain View. His territory also extends through the counties of Monterey, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, and San Mateo.
“I look to build the same long-lasting relationships in the electrical business, as I’ve built within the golf community,” said McElyea of his new position.
This new hiring comes just months after the opening of Orbit’s new West Coast distribution center (DC) in Bell Gardens, California. The new DC promises customers in Northern California (and nationwide) even shorter lead times and faster deliveries than before.
According to Orbit Industries’ President David Nikayin, “For this position, we wanted someone with competitive spirit, and a strategic mind for ‘picking the right shot’. Cory brings both qualities to the table, and has shown an eagerness to learn about our industry.”
Before joining Orbit, McElyea was a full-time professional golfer. He won the 113th California Golf Association’s Amateur Championship. He toured with the PGA, and competed in the 2013 U.S. Open Golf Championship – the largest golf competition in North America. McElyea is a graduate of the University of San Francisco.
