Orbit Featured at WiOPS Workshop, Hosted by Rosendin Electric

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Orbit Industries was one of three featured manufacturers at the Electrical Workshop, an event sponsored by Women in Construction Operations (WiOPS). According to the WiOPS website, it was one of the group’s largest events in 2019, with over 100 members in attendance. The Electrical Workshop was hosted by Rosendin Electric, an electrical contracting firm in the United States, which recently celebrated its 100th year in business.

Started in 2013, Women in Construction Operations is a non-profit group that mentors women in the operation side of construction. WiOPS provides career guidance to its female members, many of whom are employed by general contractors and subcontractors of every trade. According to a 2019 article from CNBC’s online “Make It” series, only 9.1% of America’s construction industry are women.

The Electrical Workshop, held in November 2019, gave attendees a glimpse into the world of electrical construction, and what the future holds for that sector.

Orbit representative Jennifer Hartpence presented her company’s products to the group. “Most of our products were brought to market based on ideas from contractors like you,” said Hartpence in her presentation. “The (construction industry’s) labor shortage keeps increasing. Cost for (raw) material keeps going up. That’s why forward-thinking professionals like you have to start thinking ‘outside-the-box’ to keep your projects profitable.”

Following the presentation, Rosendin staff led WiOPS members in wiring electrical receptacles. Hartpence also spoke one-on-one with several WiOPS members, lending her 19 years of experience in the electrical construction industry. The Electrical Workshop ended with Women in Construction Operation’s 2nd Annual Holiday Toy Drive, which received a record number of donations.

“We are absolutely blown away by the level of support and generosity our members have shown,” read the WiOPS press release. “Thank you for making a difference in both our industry and our community!”
