FULLERTON, Calif. – Orbit Industries, Inc., a family-owned manufacturer started by electrical contractors, co-sponsored the inaugural “Tee It Up FORE Autism” Golf Tournament. All proceeds from the tournament will be donated to the Fullerton School District, providing much-needed funds for autism and special needs programs. The tournament was held on May 2nd, 2019, at Coyote Hills Golf Course in Fullerton, California.
According to a 2014 report by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), approximately 1 in 59 children in the United States has been identified with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Children diagnosed with ASD often have trouble socializing with classmates, and require greater care and attention from teachers. Orbit Industries and long-time distributor partner American Ace Orange (as well as several other major sponsors) donated funds to cater the tournament luncheon, help cover administration costs, and sponsor auction prizes.
Over 140 employees from local construction firms got to play 18 holes of golf with supplier and wholesaler sponsors. Players also participated in a silent auction for experiential prizes like a Nashville Distillery Trip; a trip to New Orleans, Louisiana; a Bahamas getaway; and a limited-edition set of “Game of Thrones”-themed Johnny Walker scotch bottles. The event culminated in an exciting golf ball drop-by-helicopter to raffle additional prizes.
“Fullerton Cares has done creative fundraisers like these for years, but this was their first golf tournament involving the local trades.” said Al Chafatinos, Outside Sales for Orbit. “It was a big hit with contractors. I was really proud to represent Orbit at this first event, and look forward to doing more in the future.”
