MADRID, Spain and MUNICH, Germany — In a broader change of responsibilities in Spain, Siemens announced today that Miguel Ángel López, currently Chief Financial Officer of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE), will succeed Rosa García García at the top of Siemens S.A. in Madrid. After having successfully carried Siemens Spain forward for the past seven years, García (53) has, in agreement with Siemens, decided to pursue opportunities outside the company. She will facilitate a proper hand-over to her successor on December 1, 2018, and serve in an advisory capacity until the end of the year.
Earlier today – after García had officially notified the company of her withdrawal, which is to take effect on November 30, 2018 – SGRE announced López’s (53) nomination as new a member on, and Chairperson of, SGRE’s Board of Directors, effective December 1, 2018.
“In Miguel Ángel López, we’ve found a great successor who has been instrumental in making Siemens’ Digital Enterprise Business the global success that it is today,” said Klaus Helmrich, the Siemens AG Managing Board member who is responsible for Spain. “Besides this in-depth knowledge of one of Spain’s biggest growth opportunities – Industry 4.0 – Miguel enjoys an excellent reputation inside and outside Spain. Consequently, his appointment as CEO for Siemens Spain is a logical next step. Rosa has done a great job of steering the company. On her watch, Siemens Spain became the go-to company for the digitalization of Spain’s industrial and manufacturing sector. On behalf of the Siemens Managing Board, I want to thank Rosa for her dedication during her seven years of service for Siemens and wish her all the best for her next step,” Helmrich added.
Earlier today, SGRE announced that the vacant position of Chief Financial Officer will be assumed by David Mesonero (38), currently SGRE’s Head of Corporate Development, Strategy and Integration.
“The merger between Siemens Wind Power and Gamesa created the necessary scale to win in a highly competitive environment,” said Michael Sen, the member of the Siemens AG Managing Board who is responsible for the company’s majority shareholding in SGRE. “SGRE is gaining traction in the market and lives up to its responsibility as market leader. Holding the top position in installations in 2017 sends a very clear message. Rosa contributed to these achievements considerably, and I want to thank her for that. Miguel’s cultural fit, excellent performance as CFO and extensive experience in the industry make him the ideal successor to now support and drive the stringent execution of SGRE’s ambitious strategy program,” Sen added.
García had joined Siemens S.A. in October 2011 after spending most of her previous career at Microsoft in the United States and Spain.
