CHARLESTON, S.C. — Sonepar, a subsidiary of the privately held Sonepar Group, is launching a tree-planting initiative to incentivize customers to help rebuild forests and save paper by purchasing online. In a weeklong campaign starting April 18, all company promotional channels will be used to promote the sustainability message.
“For every mobile app or website order, a tree is born,” said Evan Fisher, Sustainability Manager at Sonepar. “Sonepar has three goals: to advocate for sustainability, populate forests and drive digital adoption. This is our second year partnering with the National Forest Foundation. The campaign continues to be a fun way to activate ‘planet first’ sustainability advocates among our associates and drive awareness for our exceptional digital tools available to our contractors.”
“In 2021 we invested heavily in digital, adding a new mobile app and digital toolsets designed for our industrial and contractor customers,” said Mike Smith, Senior VP of IT and Operations. “We aimed directly at streamlining the customer processes and eliminating unnecessary steps. Our digital sales revenue continues to grow as we promote the shift to online purchasing.”
Launching an Earth Week promotion fits with a growing sustainability mindset throughout the company. Sonepar is number one in the world for sales of energy-efficient products, a leading pioneer of energy transition, making sustainability a priority. Globally, Sonepar is currently engaged in over 230 sustainability initiatives and is aligned with the Cop26 1.5°C science-based target for 2050.
Here in the U.S., Sonepar companies have taken demonstrative action in support of sustainability, including recently installing over 300 KW of solar panels at their facilities, adding their first electric vehicle (EV) trucks into their fleet, and establishing a national partnership with ChargePoint, a key player in the EV charging space.
In addition to the tree planting promotion, Sonepar has engaged in other activities to celebrate Earth Week with their associates. Sonepar USA’s “Roots for the Earth” campaign encourages associates to buy plants for their yards, homes, and offices to heighten the sense of connection with the planet and support local nurseries.
