DULUTH, Minn. — Viking Electric Supply, a Sonepar company, will host a ground-breaking ceremony on Friday, June 15, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. to celebrate its planned move to a new Duluth location and a new facility in January 2019.
The new location is in Duluth’s West End, two blocks east of 40th Avenue West and West Superior Street. The approximate address of the new location is 3800 West Superior Street, Duluth, Minnesota 55807, which is about six blocks northeast of Viking Electric’s current Duluth location at 4531 West 1st Street.
The plans for the new location include a new, two-story, 36,962-square-foot facility. The first-floor footprint is planned for 29,618 square feet and will include a city desk, showroom, reception area, and warehouse. The warehouse plan includes a 28-foot ceiling clearance, two receiving dock doors, and five shipping docks. In addition, there are plans for one large overhead door in the rear of the building for larger deliveries and one small overhead door in the front for customer load-out. The plan for the second floor includes 7,344 square feet of office space including an area for future expansion.
Greg Irvine, General Manager of Viking Electric’s existing location in Duluth, has been employed by Viking Electric Supply for 35 years and will manage the new facility. “Viking Electric Supply has been discussing a new location for its Duluth operations for a long time and we are proud to be moving forward with a new building in a new location,” Irvine said. “We are thrilled about the prospects of operating out of a newer, larger facility. It will allow us to grow, expand our services, and better serve our customers in Northern Minnesota.”
