Joseph Barbosa, 30
Business Development Specialist
NorthEast Electrical
Joseph has spent 11 years in the industry, all with Northeast Electrical, working his way up the ladder from the warehouse up to his current role as a business development specialist.
“I went to a trade school and studied electrical but had a problem getting a job in the field, so I turned to sales,” explained Joseph. “I am a good people person so I thought I could excel on the sales side. The relationships with my customers and always looking for the next opportunity are what really keeps me driven.”
Asked about a challenge the industry is currently facing, Joseph pointed to uncertainty in the market. “Customers are being a little more cautious with buying out full jobs,” he said, adding there is little that can be done to help with this issue.
Looking ahead, Joseph aspires to become a full outside salesman in the near future. “I’m working in a hybrid role to help get me more prepared for the transition,” he noted.
What would Joseph tell someone just entering the industry: “I would tell them it’s a great career and you’ll meet a lot of great people and make some good friends,” he noted.
When he’s not working, Joseph said he can be found watching movies/TV series, playing video games, and spending time with family and friends.
