Emily Wotring, 31
Sales Representative
Service Wire
Emily started her career with Service Wire—and the industry—about four years ago. “I had recently moved and was looking for a new job,” she said. “Service Wire had an opening in sales support, so I applied.” Emily was promoted to inside sales rep within the first year. For the first couple of years in sales she covered the New England and Canadian markets and recently moved into a new territory, which includes New York, New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, and New England.
What appealed to Emily about Service Wire? “I loved the team atmosphere and collaboration throughout the office,” she said. “It was a field I had never been exposed to, so I loved that I was learning something new every day. As the years go on, I am still learning something new each day.”
Asked about a challenge the industry is currently facing, Emily pointed to bridging the gap of the differences in generational styles of business and communication. “With a vast age range in the industry, even just in one office/company, I work daily to ensure smooth transitions and lines of communication among employees and customers of all ages,” she said. “I want to be able to learn from people who have been in the industry for decades and adapt that knowledge to ever-changing practices and industry innovations.”
Looking ahead, Emily noted that she has a consistent goal to strive to be the best wherever she is and look for opportunities along the way. “I plan to continue to grow in my knowledge of the industry; build stronger connections/relationships with my co-workers, agents, and customers; and look for roles/tasks that will challenge me to think outside the box,” she explained.
What would Emily tell someone new to the industry? “Ask questions,” she advised. “You will not always know the answer so lean on your teammates and/or experts in the field. Ask for professional development training, take classes, and go to conferences. Take every opportunity you can to learn and grow.”
A mom to three boys ages four and under, “There’s never a dull moment!” said Emily, who listed among her hobbies spending time with family, cooking/baking, and traveling.
