2025 30 Under 35 Profile: Carley Camp

Carley Camp, 31
Branch Manager
Elliott Electric Supply

Carley started her career in electrical distribution at Elliott Electric Supply’s Regional Distribution Center (DFW RDC) in Dallas in 2018, where she worked for a few months before qualifying to enroll in the company’s Leadership Development Program (LDP).

“I moved from the DFW RDC to our East Dallas location. My initial management role was the counter sales supervisor, which is a job I did concurrently with the LDP,” recalled Carley. “The East Dallas location was and is our largest branch by volume as a company so this opportunity to manage our counter sales team was a hands-on challenge that taught me a lot about both people and product. After graduating from the LDP in 2020, I stepped into the role of operations manager. In 2024, I was promoted to branch manager where I oversee the East Dallas location as well as our Rockwall and Forney locations. It’s been a fast, exciting ride with no shortage of learning.”

Asked how she discovered the industry, Carley said, “I like to say I followed in my dad’s footsteps (he’s also in electrical distribution), but I carved my own path through Elliott’s LDP. I immediately knew that this was the kind of place where I could grow. The culture at Elliott is something special; there’s a genuine team mentality, and people lift each other up. One thing I’ve always appreciated is how empowered I’ve felt: If you have a solid idea, you’re trusted to run with it.”

As for what keeps her passionate about the industry, Carley said had a two-word answer: the people. “It’s incredibly relationship-driven,” she explained. “I’ve seen competitors work together just to help a customer. That kind of collaboration is rare and speaks volumes. Every day is different. Whether you’re helping a one-truck electrician or coordinating with a Fortune 500 company, there’s always a new challenge and something to learn.”

One of the biggest challenges Carley sees facing the industry now is bringing in new talent. “It’s something I take seriously,” she said. “I actively bring in as many recruits as I can through our LDP, and even if they don’t stay at my branch, I want to make sure they leave more confident and capable than when they arrived. I also encourage my team to prioritize ongoing coaching and development; we grow as leaders by helping others succeed. Another challenge is ensuring our folks are trained in both sales and technical aspects. The LDP program has a requirement that all enrollees complete NAED’s EPEC Bronze, but in addition to the LDPs, we have been encouraging all other salespeople to enroll in EPEC Bronze. So far in 2025 our East Dallas location has three EPEC Bronze graduates and one EPEC silver graduate.”

As for her career plans, Carley is focused on growing her branches through continued education and leadership development. “I’m currently earning a Master’s in Industrial Distribution from Texas A&M because I feel like that is the leading program in the country for our industry. The more I learn, the more I can invest in others and help them grow their business too,” she said.

What would Carley say to someone new to the industry? “Be a sponge! Say yes to things outside your comfort zone—that’s where the growth happens,” she said. “Build relationships. This industry might feel huge at first, but you’ll be surprised how interconnected it really is. Treat every customer like a million-dollar account, because they just might be. And don’t fear failure: Some of the best lessons come from what didn’t go as planned.”

When she’s not at work, Carley can be found on the golf course, near a lake in East Texas, deep in a book, or hanging out with friends and family. “I’m a big fan of Texas country music, and my wife and I love to take road trips. Our favorite so far? Yellowstone. It’s hard to beat that kind of beauty,” she said.
