William Schnirring, Jr., Chairman Emeritus and former President/CEO of Springfield Electric Supply, passed away on January 26th. The company released the following statement on Monday, January 27, 2020:
With sadness, we share the passing of William Schnirring Jr., at age 90, on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020 surrounded by his family.
Mr. Schnirring began his career working alongside his father in 1952 and led the 2nd generation family-owned Springfield Electric Supply Co as President/CEO for most of his 44 years before retiring in 1996, but remaining active as Chairman Emeritus.
He was active in the Industry – NAED Chair in 1979-1980 and a recipient of the Arthur W Hooper Achievement Award in 2002. Mr. Schnirring also actively supported the communities the company served.
Today, the company is composed of both 3rd and 4th generation family members, working alongside other associate owners, who continue to build on the strong family business that Bill’s father started. Mr. Schnirring will always be remembered by company associates for his dedicated work ethic, exemplary customer culture he instilled, and his dedication to improving the communities where we live.
Mr. Schnirring’s wife, Mary, of 69 years passed on January 12, 2020. Surviving family include 2 daughters, Kathy (Randy) Germeraad and Carolyn (Dan) Dungan; 4 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren and a sister, Lyn Kennedy.
The family will celebrate the lives of Bill and Mary at a joint service in May 2020 in Springfield, IL.
