Eaton, Hubbell Inc., Rockwell Automation, and Schneider Electric have all been recognized as recipients of the 2021 World’s Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere Institute, a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices.
Ethisphere evaluates each year’s honorees by assessing their culture, environmental and social practices, ethics and compliance activities, governance, and diversity. The process serves as an operating framework to capture and codify the leading practices of organizations across industries and around the globe.
Grounded in Ethisphere’s proprietary Ethics Quotient®, the World’s Most Ethical Companies assessment process includes more than 200 questions on culture, environmental and social practices, ethics and compliance activities, governance, diversity and initiatives to support a strong value chain. The process serves as an operating framework to capture and codify the leading practices of organizations across industries and around the globe. This year, the process was streamlined and the question set expanded to gauge how applicants are adapting and responding to the global health pandemic, environmental, social, and governance factors, safety, equity, and inclusion and social justice. In 2021, 135 honorees were recognized, spanning 22 countries and 47 industries.
“While addressing the tough challenges of 2020, we saw companies lead – above all other institutions – on earning the trust of stakeholders through resilience and a commitment to ethics and integrity,” said Timothy Erblich, chief executive officer, Ethisphere Institute. “The World’s Most Ethical Companies honorees continue to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to the highest values and positively impacting the communities they serve.”
Eaton has been named to the list 10 times since the Ethisphere Institute created the World’s Most Ethical Companies designation in 2007. The company is one of only eight honorees in the Industrial Manufacturing category.
“It’s a privilege to have once again been named one of the world’s most ethical companies,” said Craig Arnold, chairman and CEO, Eaton. “This recognition reflects the commitment of our 92,000 employees who serve all our stakeholders with uncompromising integrity and dedication to our mission to improve the quality of life and the environment.”
“Having a strong values-based ethical culture is a responsibility shared by every Eaton employee and paramount to earning and maintaining the trust of shareholders, customers, employees and the communities in which we operate,” said Joe Rodgers, senior vice president, Ethics and Compliance, Eaton. “We are guided by our core values every day and this recognition demonstrates Eaton’s commitment to acting with integrity and doing business right.”
Hubbell’s President and CEO, Gerben Bakker stated, “Hubbell’s employees evidence a commitment to compliance and to doing the right thing every day; it is a foundational part of our strategy and our culture. We are pleased to receive this recognition and I thank all of Hubbell’s employees for making this possible.”
This is the first time Hubbell has achieved this recognition.
Rockwell Automation has been recognized 13 times and is one of only two honorees in the Diversified Machinery industry.
“We’re honored to once again receive this recognition from Ethisphere,” said Blake Moret, Chairman and CEO of Rockwell Automation. “Our commitment to integrity is a foundational element of our culture, ingrained in everything we do. And that culture is shaped by great employees who can and want to do their best work.”
Schneider Electric’s “Principles of Responsibility” ethics charter, a dynamic ethics and compliance program, and a strong speak-up culture together ensure that any compliance issues are effectively prevented, swiftly identified and addressed.
“We’re very proud to be listed once again as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies by the Ethisphere Institute,” said Olivier Blum, Schneider Electric’s Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer. “Ethical behavior is non-negotiable: it is the critical foundation on which sustainable business activity and trust have to be built, a pillar of our sustainability commitments.”
