FARGO, N.D. — Border States Electric (BSE) has been selected as one of the 2021 US Best Managed Companies. Sponsored by Deloitte Private and The Wall Street Journal, the program recognizes outstanding U.S. private companies and their achievements.
“After a challenging year for many businesses, it feels more important than ever to recognize the outstanding achievements of our 2021 US Best Managed Companies honorees,” said Jason Downing, Vice Chairman, Deloitte LLP, and U.S. Deloitte Private leader. “These businesses are led by visionary and innovative management teams throughout the country and across industries. Their resilience and sustained commitment to their purpose, particularly throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, is inspiring. We welcome them into the program and look forward to their continued success.”
“It is an honor for our company to be recognized with this award,” said David White, CEO. “Border States has a strong culture of ownership, a long history of detailed strategic planning and tireless execution by employee-owners who turn plans into reality. We plan, execute, evaluate and improve to best serve customers — to be the best we can be. We follow a simple philosophy — if we take care of our customers, vendors and each other, the rest will take care of itself. This deliberate approach allows us to better execute on our strategy and builds a culture of empowerment, which leads to results.”
Applicants are evaluated and selected by a panel of external judges focused on assessing excellence in four key areas: strategy, ability to execute, corporate culture and financial performance. Companies from more than 30 countries were recognized by the Best Managed Companies program.
“While receiving awards is not why we work hard each day, it is nice to see our great work noticed outside of the organization and industry,” Jason Seger, President said. “This honors every employee-owner because being a ‘best managed’ company really means being a ‘best running’ company. This only happens when every employee-owner works together, understands their role, makes strong local decisions and goes the extra mile in everything they do for our customers, and for each other.”
