Southwest Industrial Electric Amps up Fight Against Human Trafficking
Southwest Industrial Electric (SIE) announced its participation in the 2022 Human Trafficking Awareness (HTA) Month, showing its support by participating in #wearblueday and hosting a month-long fundraiser. As seen on Yahoo Finance, the purpose of SIE’s participation was not only to inform others but also to support the local Los Angeles chapter of the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking (CAST LA). 100% of the proceeds were donated to CAST LA to support its efforts and initiatives which create real-world change.

- Looking to be a call to action, the SIE HTA fundraising event opened on the 10th of January and ran until the 31st. Tickets were $2, and prizes included free movie tickets and tasty treats from Milk Bar. SIE was able to raise 110% of their original goal, totaling $660.
- To show support and raise awareness of the fastest-growing and second-largest form of organized crime in the world, Southwest Industrial Electric leveraged its social platforms throughout January to inform the public of Human Trafficking Awareness. It also joined in on the larger conversation with the community by participating in national #wearblueday, a day in which everyone wears blue and posts to their social platforms, raising general awareness.
- #WEARBLUEDAY is an initiative within the Blue Campaign which was started by the DHS to inform the public on HTA facts such as what HTA is, who it affects, what to look out for, and what we can do as a global community to combat the issue. All facts distributed by SIE were gathered from DHS and its partners.
- Although the Human Trafficking Awareness Fundraiser is over, people can still show support by donating to CAST LA by visiting the website here.
