Blazer Electric Supply Company, Colorado Springs, CO., held its 10th Annual Blazer Benefit Golf Tournament at Bear Dance Golf Club in Larkspur, Colorado on July 28, 2022.
A total of $35,000 was raised to support the local training initiatives of the Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) and the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC). A total of $244,250 has now been raised to support scholarships, tools, training materials and equipment.
Both apprenticeship programs equip prospective students with the skills and knowledge necessary to have a successful career in the electrical construction trade. The goal of the local IEC program is to recruit and prepare a skilled labor force to meet the needs of Colorado electrical contractors. The program provides training and certification to candidates of all technical and non-technical vocations, regardless of affiliation to an apprenticeship program or other training program. As a result, IEC candidates become union electricians or journeymen who can provide valuable professional services to Colorado electrical contractors.
Last year, donations and fundraisers from the benefit were able to help provide scholarships for more than 30 Southern Colorado Students to finish out the 2020/2021 school year.

Blazer Electric Supply President Steve Blazer said, “We truly feel a part of the community here in Colorado Springs and support organizations that help our industry grow. We also appreciate the opportunity to help these students while working to make our industry better.”
Individuals and companies are invited to sponsor holes, players can also donate money for advantages on the course such as purchasing mulligans or a shooting with a golf ball gun! The money raised contributes to the tuition funds that assists students in gaining entry into the career of electrical work.
Mr. Blazer continued, “As the only southern Colorado independently owned electrical supply company, we want to help provide the training, tools, and support the next generation needs to complete the journey from apprenticeship to career. Our goal is to bridge the gap between apprenticeship and employment. This is also our way of giving back to our community and providing people the opportunity to make a career. We want to thank our local contractors and vendor sponsors for helping us raise the money to benefit the apprenticeship and training programs in Colorado. For some apprentices, the fundraising from the Blazer tournament is critical to successfully completing their training program and being hired by a local company.”
